Things you should know about attending Paws at Play

Paws At Play is an interactive, social facility where dogs are grouped together in playgroups.

The playgroups consist of temperament-tested dogs of similar size and play type. The groups are supervised and monitored at all times and dogs are given a timeout if they get too rowdy or just need to rest.

By attending our facility you are agreeing to have your dog socialized while they are here.

Due to the interactive nature of our facility, your dog may get scratched and roughed up a little when playing. Just as human children on a playground, they can get scratches and bumps from running and wrestling.

Please expect to see these types of things on occasion. Our daycare attendant will make you aware of any active aggression; otherwise do not be alarmed by scratches or marks.

We also see sore or ripped pads on occasion. Our daycare attendants are trained to watch for dogs that seem like their pads are getting tender from being outside. If your dog seems to be having an issue we will wrap their feet if this is their first visit. If they are prone to having pad issues we recommend buying booties for you’re dog to wear while out in daycare. If you do not bring booties, we will wrap their feet at a charge of $4 per roll of wrap. Unfortunately we cannot always catch torn paw pads before they happen. The dogs most prone to this are larger dogs that go in and out of the pool. You are welcome to bring booties for your dog to wear out in playtime if your dog is prone to this issue. We will mark their chart if this has been an issue in the past and wrap their paws and give extra rest times if needed. Ripped paw pads are similar to ripping a callus on your hand. It is very sensitive the first couple of days but heal over just fine.

Elderly animals are welcome to board at Paws At Play. We give our geriatrics as much rest as needed and do not group them with the rambunctious crowd. We try to help them have a relaxing vacation during their stay with us.

We are proud of our facility and the personalized care our guests receive. We hope to have the honor of caring for your pet in the near future. It would be our pleasure!!

Summer is Here!!

It is hot, humid and sticky outside. The following is a list of common problems we sometimes encounter at our facility during the summer months:

- Sore or ripped pads
- Worn nails
- Hot Spots
- Skin Infections
- Ear infections

What can you do to help us prevent these problems?

If your dog is prone to ear infections, bring your ear wash with you and we can put some in to help dry the ear canals after a long day of swimming.

If your dog is prone to skin infections / hot spots, let us know. We will mark their chart and check for these issues daily. If we catch a problem early we can treat the problem before it gets out of hand. Let a staff member know if it is ok for our Doctor to treat any of these problems at the first sight, before they get more severe. Appropriate fees will apply.

If your dog has sensitive feet, bring booties to wear in daycare.

Please remember, Paws At Play is not a traditional Boarding facility. We are an interactive facility, and just like kids on a playground, dogs can get bumps and scratches. We try our best to keep everyone happy, healthy and safe so that they can enjoy their time with us.
